It’s Show Time!

In this COVID-19 working remotely era, we have decisions to make when it comes to meetings — to video or not to video? If you choose yes, do you show your actual background or a fake background? Dress up or show your true work attire?

One day, a co-worker and I were on the phone and he turned on his video. So I turned mine on. His hair was puffy and he wasn’t shaven. I felt okay that my hair was too long, graying and up in a

headband and I didn’t have on make-up. Our meeting continued. Then I noticed his t-shirt was like that one in the commercial — with the bad neck. That made me look down to what I was wearing. Purple t-shirt, okay. Then panic seeped in as I looked down further — wine bottles and text that says New Jersey Moms Support Group. I hope my video didn’t go that far down. Or, maybe he’ll see the benefit of giving me a bottle of wine during the next holiday season.
